Filmmaker Nathaniel Kahn shares the story of his personal quest to understand his father, the legendary architect Louis Kahn.
World renowned architect Louis Kahn was best known for his “formally brilliant modern buildings,” which reflected nothing of his personal life. HIs only son, Nathaniel, hardly knew him, and Kahn died when Nathaniel was only 11.
In 2002 Nathaniel released the documentary My Architect in which he travels the world to “uncover the mysteries of his father.” The film chronicles his search through Kahn’s extensive body of work, and both his professional and personal relationships. My Architect has been called, “A film with meaning to anyone who seeks to understand the relationship between art and love.”
